Spurs suffer defeat in Polokwane

After a tough outing at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Cape Town Spurs suffered a 3-1 loss to Polokwane City in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a relatively solid start to the game, the Urban Warriors conceded in the 15th minute as Oswin Appollis got his name on the scoresheet. Polokwane City then doubled their advantage at the hour mark, with Douglas Mapfumo getting on the end of a header inside the Urban Warriors penalty area.

Appollis added a third in the 77th minute, after finding himself in a one-on-one situation with Zama Dlamini and subsequently slotted the ball into the back of the net. While Khaya Mfecane pulled one back for Spurs moments later, the score remained at 3-1 until the final whistle was blown.

Cape Town Spurs: Dlamini, Allie, Brown, Dortley, Butsaka (Stander 79’), Morton (Ryan 46’), Phewa, Buchanan (Mfecane 79’), Msani, Cupido (Velebayi 46’), Moosa (Nell 68’)
