Spurs suffer 1-0 defeat to Chippa United
In an unfortunate return to the Athlone Stadium this week, Cape Town Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat against Chippa United in the DStv Premiership on Friday night.
The Urban Warriors commenced the game on the front foot and ventured forward with purpose. Shaun Bartlett’s charges looked comfortable in possession and created numerous goalscoring opportunities in the process.
Spurs looked promising on the counter-press, particularly on the edge of the Chippa United area. As the first-half progressed, Chippa saw more of the ball however the Urban Warriors did well in defending their quarters.
Nonetheless, Chippa broke the deadlock five minutes before the break as Ronaldo Maarman’s shot from range beat Neil Boshoff between the sticks.
Much like that of the first-half, the Urban Warriors could not convert their scoring chances as the game ended 1-0 in favour of Chippa at Athlone stadium.
