Urban Warriors up against AmaTuks in Nedbank Cup tie

Cape Town Spurs are gearing up to face the University of Pretoria in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 at the AmaTuks stadium on Wednesday evening. Kick off is at 19:00 CAT.

Coming off the back of an impressive victory against AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership, the Urban Warriors are now shifting their focus to the knockout cup competition and are looking to grab a spot in the last 16. 

Chumani Butsaka scored in the match against AmaZulu and it was a great moment for him because he’s just been appointed the captain of the team by coach Ernst Middendorp for the remainder of the season.

Speaking about his new responsibilities as the Butsaka said that he was grateful to be given the opportunity. 

“I think most of the players would want to be in the position that I am in. I just want to thank the coach and the technical staff for trusting that I can do the job,” he said. 

AmaTuks are also on a high and are currently occupying first place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Their last match ended with a 2-1 victory over Upington City.

The Urban Warriors are faced with a few injury issues ahead of the match but coach Middendorp is confident that the players available will rise up to the challenge.
