Urban Warriors walk away with point against Stellenbosch

Cape Town Spurs drew 1-1 against Stellenbosch in the DStv Premiership in an entertaining Cape Derby at the Danie Craven Stadium.

The Urban Warriors drew first blood in the match through Asenele Velebayi in the 43rd minute, who scored an impressive goal and opened his account for the club.

The team did well to defend as goalkeeper Neil Boshoff was worked in the first half but the team remained solid at the back and did not concede in the first half.

The second half produced more intensity as Stellenbosch worked hard to get the equaliser and were awarded a penalty after the ball hit Denwin Farmer’s hand in the 18 area.

Iqraam Rayners finished confidently in the 70th minute, as Stellies finally found a way to beat Boshoff. Conceding the goal did not deter Spurs as they continued to attack and also stayed strong in their defensive strategy.

Ultimately, the Cape teams could not find the breakthrough to get into the lead so the match finished all square, with the Urban Warriors walking away with another crucial point in their fight against relegation.
