All important clash awaits Spurs against Richards Bay 

Cape Town Spurs’ hopes will be a win when they take on Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership on Friday evening at the Athlone Stadium. Kick-off is at 19h30 CAT.

According to head coach Ernst Middendorp, the match against the Natal Rich Boyz is a must win fixture if they are to have any hopes of surviving automatic relegation from the league.

Spurs have faced four defeats in succession in the league, and haven’t picked up any points. It will be crucial for the team to tackle this one differently to boost their hopes of staying in the top-flight.

Richards Bay have won their last two matches in the league and according to their coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, the match against the Urban Warriors is not going to be a walk in the park.

Eight points separate the two teams on the log, and a win for Richards Bay could prove to be a significant dent in Spurs’ chances of staying afloat.

Middendorp stated that if the match ends in a loss for the Urban Warriors, everyone can “close the book” regarding the relegation battle.

“Everything depends on Friday evening, if we don’t win on Friday and then you can close the book, that’s the reality,” he said. 

“We have to win this game. We have to get three points.”
