Spurs aim to finish strong as they take on Royal AM

Cape Town Spurs’ next fixture in the DStv Premiership will be against Royal AM at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is at 19h30 CAT.

A painful last minute loss against Polokwane City in the team’s last league fixture put a huge dent in the hopes of avoiding automatic relegation. However, there are hardly signs of throwing in the towel despite the current circumstances.

Urban Warriors coach Ernst Middendorp has stated that it would take a lot for Spurs to survive relegation and he’s been spending a lot of time trying to troubleshoot.

“I’m busy all day with finding solutions for these games. We have several players not available,” Middendorp explained.

“Now it’s a different scenario. We have to see how to approach the remaining four games. Of course, miracles do happen, but I’m being realistic.”

It’s an away fixture, which adds an extra challenge, however the team has shown determination and fighting spirit throughout the season. Especially in the second half, following the Africa Cup of Nations break.
