Spurs players named in COSAFA Cup preliminary squad

Helman Mkhalele has announced the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the COSAFA Cup. This year’s tournament is the 23rd edition and will be held from 26 June – 7 July 2024.

The competition will be held in South Africa for the seventh straight year in a row, this time in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). Zambia are the current defending champions.

Five Cape Town Spurs players have been named in the preliminary squad, they are as follows: 

• Rushwin Dortley

• Liam Bern

• Chumani Butsaka

• Luvuyo Phewa

• Siphesihle Maduna

• Asanele Velebayi

• Ashley Cupido

Groups 

Group A: South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Botswana

Group B: Zambia, Comoros, Zimbabwe, and Kenya

Group C: Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, and Seychelles
