Mokwena gives Middendorp his flowers for coaching

Before Rulani Mokwena left the South African football space, he gave compliments to Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp, saying that he would love to work as his assistant.

Mokwena has now moved on to coach Wydad AC in Morocco, but it is commendable how he is able to give credit to Middendorp for inspiring his own journey in coaching.

The tactician teased that he would take a job to work with the Urban Warriors coach after it was announced that he had parted ways with Mamelodi Sundowns.

“I’d love to be Ernst Middendorp’s assistant, I would not mind being in the First Division, I don’t know if there is a job available, I know there have got incredible assistant coaches and top coaches, but I’d love to be Middendorp’s assistant,” Mokwena said during a radio interview.

“I love him, I love how he thinks, I love how he sees things and I speak to him regularly. I try to talk to him though we are both very, very busy.”

“I try to communicate with him as much as I can. I think he’s got an incredible experience. I love that he is so well respected in Germany, in his own country,” he added.

“He can coach any team in the Bundesliga. He is in South Africa imparting his knowledge. He is someone that I have so much love for, I like him.”
