Urban Warriors shift focus on redemption 

In the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season, Cape Town Spurs made their debut in the South African top-flight and it was indeed a moment of jubilation for fans of the club.

The team had a tough start to the season, picking up only one win and were in danger of relegation. In November 2023, Ernst Middendorp was appointed as head coach of the Urban Warriors.

Middendorp has a reputation for saving South African football clubs from the dreaded drop, and with him at the wheel, the team managed to pick up five convincing wins.

At the end of the season, Spurs came close to escaping relegation, but a shock victory from Richards Bay over Orlando Pirates meant that they missed out on a chance to fight in the PSL Promotion/Relegation playoffs.

The team will now shift their focus back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and make an effort to swiftly return to the Betway Premiership.

The first fixture is against University of Pretoria on Sunday afternoon at the Tuks Stadium. 

Kick-off is at 15:00.
