Boji scores on Spurs debut as Warriors take three points
Cape Town Spurs picked up another point in the new campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, as they defeated Venda Football Club 1-0 on Friday evening at the UWC Stadium.
Both teams tried to break the other down but were no match for each other. However, at the end of the second half during stoppage time, a penalty was awarded to the Urban Warriors.
New signing Mervin Boji opened his account for Cape Town Spurs by converting the spot-kick and thus scoring on his debut. The goal ensured that the Urban Warriors took home all three points.
Middendorp’s chargers showed resilience throughout the match and did not crack under the high pressure of taking a late-minute penalty.
Spurs’ next match will be against in-form Milford, who currently occupy the top of the standings in the MFC on the 14th of September 2024 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
