Middendorp comments on referees in Motsepe Foundation Championship

Cape Town Spurs head coach Ernst Middendorp has expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Urban Warriors are currently in ninth position on the log standings after six matches, after winning two matches, drawing the same amount and losing two more.

The German tactician has never been one to be shy about how he feels about anything, and he took to his official page to make a statement.

“If you’re not politically connected as a Club in the NFD soccer industry, you have to endure the consequences,” he wrote.

“Now I have coached 6 games in the NFD-Season 2024/25, 4 of which were away games. I strongly believe it is my duty as a professional coach with a valuable UEFA-Pro-License as well as more than 30 years of experience in the soccer industry to address the concerns about bias or inconsistency.”

“Analyzing the NFD games in details we found a huge number of parameters indicating that decisions taken by referees gave one team privilege over the other,” he added in part.

“Teams have been favored significantly, As the away team in nearly all the 4 matches (TUKS, MILFORD, DURBAN CITY, LERUMA) we suffered the consequences of the referees’ actions.”
