Leopards overcome Spurs in Venda

Cape Town Spurs were defeated 3-0 by Black Leopards in the Motsepe Foundation Championship match played at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The defeat saw the Urban Warriors remain 15th in the standings with 12 matches left in the league. Coach Ernst Middendorp’s side will travel to Pretoria where they are scheduled to face SuperSport United in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match on 12 February.

Lidoda Duvha got off to a bright start and they managed to grab two quick goals within two minutes. Bethuel Muzeu scored in the 15th minute before Thendo Mukumela made it 2-0 to Leopards.

The hosts continued to search for more goals after taking the lead and they scored again in the 28th minute. This time was Augusto Farai who beat goalkeeper Marlon Heugh and the score was 3-0 to Leopards at half-time in Venda. 

The Urban Warriors defended much better after the restart and they looked to pull one back. However, the hosts stood firm at the back and ultimately, the match ended in a 3-0 win in favour of Leopards on the day.
