Spurs clinch come-from-behind win over Highbury
Cape Town Spurs returned to winning ways in the Motsepe Foundation Championship when they secured a 2-1 win over Highbury FC at the Athlone Stadium on Friday night.
The victory saw the Urban Warriors climb out of the relegation zone as the Western Cape side are now placed 14th on the league standings and they will be away to Venda FC on 12 March.
Amajuba took the lead through Siyabonga Dubula who hit the back of the net after a decent move by the visitors and the score was 1-0 to Highbury during the half-time break in the Mother City.
The Urban Warriors had to show character after the restart and that’s exactly what coach Ernst Middendorp’s side did as they fought back to ensure that the team collected the maximum points.
Goals from Mervin Boji and Therlo Moosa in the second-half earned Spurs a 2-1 victory on the night as the Urban Warriors avenged their 1-0 loss to Highbury in the first round league clash.
