SAFA reveals details for U15 Football National Championships
The draw for the National Schools Football Championship 2025 was conducted on Tuesday and the tournament will be held in Durban.
In 2023, Cape Town Spurs had four players in the U15 Technical Development Scheme Tournament, namely: Selwyn Stevens, Thurston Jacobs, Zailen Jacobs and Amsdriano Adams.
Spurs quartert Aqeel Hess, Shaqeel Edries, Noah Hempe and Lincoln Daniels recently attended the South African men’s national team Under-17 selection camp in the South of Johannesburg.
“This draw comes as a result of games that were played in the provinces, with schools first, and with the ABC Motsepe teams,” SAFA Vice President Linda Zwane said.
“We all know that schools’ football is the bedrock of football development in any country, therefore it is very important that we raise the schools and make sure that schools are playing in the country, because without that there is no future.
“Every player you see at elite level started at school. “Every player you see at elite level either comes from the villages, townships or farms. So, they were then scouted from schools and it is very important we take that aspect of the game very seriously.”
The Western Cape are in Group B are along with Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape, while Group A features Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State and Eastern Cape.
The tournament will be held at the University of KZN from 11 – 15 July 2025.
