Spurs learn new dates for EKC after postponement

Cape Town Spurs have learned new dates for the 2025 Engen Knockout Challenge after the tournament was postponed.

The Western Cape leg of the Engen Knockout Challenge was scheduled to take place at the Erica Park Sports Ground in Belhar between 27 and 29 June.

However, the event, which is regarded as the biggest under-18 boys tournament in the country, was postponed due to heavy rainfall, which was forecast to begin on 25 June.

The organisers have now announced that the competition has been rescheduled to take place from 11 to 13 July at Erica Park Stadium.

“The City of Cape Town has advised that heavy rainfall, forecasted to begin on 25 June, is expected to affect the pitch at Erica Park Stadium,” a statement read.

“Due to ongoing drainage issues, the field is unlikely to be suitable for play between 27 and 29 June, and any activity during this time could cause further damage to the surface.

“As a precaution, the Cape Town playoffs have been rescheduled to take place from 11 to 13 July at Erica Park Stadium.”

Spurs will be looking to win the tournament and represent the Western Cape at the Engen Champs of Champs later this year.
