Spurs eye winning start against Zizwe

Cape Town Spurs will start their 2025/26 ABC Motsepe League Western Cape Stream A campaign with a match against Zizwe United at Ikamva on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 14h00.

The Urban Warriors have assembled a squad with a good blend of youth and experience with coach Nasief Morris at the helm in South Africa’s third-tier.

The likes of Nazier Allie, Jarood Moroole, Lincoln Vyver, Marlon Heugh and Colin Ryan, who are experienced campaigners in the Spurs squad seeking promotion back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. 

On the other hand, Azola Jakalashe, Tylo Sanger, Wade Poole, Zinedine Steyn and Ayakha Leo Sibuta are some of the exciting and talented youngsters in Morris’ side, keen to make their mark.

Spurs will be looking to record their maiden victory of the season after being narrowly defeated 1-0 by Batalion FC in the Nedbank Cup qualifiers last month.

The Urban Warriors will be up against Zizwe side, who saw their Nedbank Cup match against Diadora FC being cancelled last month and they turned their attention to the new ABC Motsepe League campaign.

Zizwe were crowned champions of the ABC Motsepe League Western Cape last season under coach Msekeli Mvalo and they went on to represent the province in the national playoffs in Pretoria.

The club nicknamed United We Stand have reinforced their squad with the signing of Spurs academy product Yanga Baliso, who has plied his trade in Finland. 

This will be the first-ever meeting between Spurs and Zizwe.
