Spurs eye league summit with Parow Derby win over Vasco

Cape Town Spurs will aim to extend their impressive run with a fourth straight victory in the 2025/26 ABC Motsepe League Western Cape Stream A this Saturday.

The Urban Warriors host local rivals and fellow former PSL side Vasco Da Gama in the Parow Derby on matchday 13, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00.

Spurs enter the clash brimming with confidence after three consecutive wins, including a recent double over Inter City FFC.

Their latest result—a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Inter City at Wynberg Military Base—propelled them to 24 points from 13 matches, solidifying their position in the standings.

Currently sitting in fourth place (7 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses; +3 goal difference), Spurs are two points behind leaders HBU FC (26 points from 12 matches).

A win against Vasco could see coach Nasief Morris’ side move to the top of the standings, depending on other results.

Vasco, meanwhile, boosted their promotion aspirations with a 2-1 home win over FN Rangers on March 14. They arrive in seventh place with 16 points from 11 matches, eager to close the gap on the chasing pack.

This Saturday’s fixture marks the second competitive meeting between the sides this season. Spurs claimed a convincing 3-1 away victory in the first encounter on February 11 at Parow Park.

Now back on home turf, the Urban Warriors will look to complete the league double over their Parow rivals and maintain their momentum in the race for promotion.
