Menzo eyes consistency following double delight at Bidvest Stadium
Bidvest Stadium proved a happy hunting ground for Ajax Cape Town last week as Stanley Menzo’s troops claimed four valuable Absa Premiership points within the space of four days.
After grinding to a goalless draw against the defending champion Clever Boys, Thabo Mosadi’s first-half rocket secured a 1-0 win for the Urban Warriors over the Chilli Boys.
Forced to play our scheduled home fixture against Chippa United at a neutral venue in Johannesburg, it was always going to be difficult, but Ajax Cape Town rose to the occasion with the defence particularly impressive in keeping successive clean sheets.
“Very good victory in a very important part of the season,” Menzo said in aftermath over our win over Chippa United.
“The win will give us the confidence of course, but confidence won’t give you points, we still have to work.
“This gives the team confidence and hopefully boosts it for the upcoming game.
Menzo continued: “We have to stop being inconsistent and show that we can be consistent for a long time. But it is a young team with not a lot of experienced players.
“Inconsistency is a part of this league and we have to deal with it, and we have to try to be more consistent,” he concluded.
Ajax Cape Town take on Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening in what will be our final game of 2017. Kick-off is at 20h15 CAT.
