Spurs slump to heavy home defeat

Cape Town Spurs’ poor form on home soil continued as they fell to a 4-1 defeat to Sekhukhune United at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Ashley Cupido scored for the second time this week, nodding home Abednigo Mosiatlhaga’s pin-point free-kick to hand the Urban Warriors the perfect start.
But, as has often been the case this season, Spurs were unable to hold onto the lead and Babina Noko pulled level in the 18th minute through Sibusiso Milazi.
Siyabulela Shai and Thabang Sibanyoni added further goals for Sekhukhune before the break and Prince Nxumalo added the icing on the cake for the visitors, lobbing the ball over Darren Johnson with seven minutes remaining.
Victory cemented Sekhukhune’s place atop the 2020-21 GladAfrica Championship standings, while Spurs remain in the relegation zone.
