Q&A with Spurs head coach Dylan Deane
Cape Town Spurs have started their preparation for the 2021/22 GladAfrica Championship season.
Head coach Dylan Deane will lead the Urban Warriors’ promotion charge after helping the club avoid relegation last season.
Nasief Morris will continue to assist Deane while Calvin Marlin has returned to Ikamva as goalkeeper coach.
Q: Coach, you worked with Nasief last season, now Calvin has also joined the technical team. What are your thoughts on the technical team as a whole?
Every member of our technical staff has the attributes which we were looking for: coaching, mental, knowledge, analysis and medical. There is also vast experience to allow us to find the best solution to our football aspects.I am thankful to have these gentlemen by my side.
Q: What lessons will the team take from last season to help us build a solid foundation for the upcoming campaign?
The key factor is that our younger players had the experience last season to adapt to the demands of professional football. We all now understand that we need to be consistent and very ambitious to do well.
Q: Do you feel optimistic about the upcoming season?
We need to have a very good pre-season and we have the opportunity to do that this season, we also have a very good foundation to work from and we are looking to recruit players who will not only make us very competitive, but also have the values we require.
Q: Do you have anything else to add, maybe a message to the fans or something along those lines?
Football is about our fans and we want to honour them with our performances, we have the most passionate and loyal supporters and the team will be passionate about the supporters.
