‘We fought and showed great character’

Cape Town Spurs mentor Shaun Bartlett has praised his side’s ‘character’ following the resumption of local football this month.

With three wins on the trot in all competitions, the Urban Warriors have showcased their grit and determination in getting the required results, which was reiterated by Bartlett.

Bartlett also hinted at the possibility of freshening up the squad in facing Casric Stars in their next Motsepe Foundation Championship, following a successful recovery period.

“Well, we had a really good start against Hungry Lions after the World Cup break and the Nedbank Cup,”  Bartlett said.

“It was back to our bread and butter which is the league and we knew it was going to be a tough game against Hungry Lions.

“We fought, we showed some great character and got the required result and a clean sheet. It’s always something to build on and now we are looking forward to another tough match against Casric Stars.

“They are a team that’s in very good form in the league currently, unbeaten unbeaten I think in their last five games. For us again, it will be another challenge but our players have recovered in time.

“We might make a couple of changes here and there to freshen up the squad but ultimately it is for us to go there and get the required result, that is a win.”
