Spurs record 8th straight league win at home
As Cape Town Spurs march on, coach Shaun Bartlett and his Warriors recorded a dramatic 3-2 win over TTM in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Wednesday afternoon.
As the referee blew for the first-half whistle at the Athlone Stadium, the Urban Warriors immediately asserted themselves on the opposition. Therlo Moosa opened the scoring in the first minute of the match, much to the delight of Bartlett and his technical team.
Ashely Cupido continued his fine form in front of goal as he doubled Spurs’ lead in the 26th minute, taking his tally to 11 goals in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
However, the visitors pulled one back soon after Cupido’s effort and levelled matters minutes before half-time.
After getting the equaliser, the visitors put Spurs under pressure in the second-half, however, Bartlett’s troops held on and continued to play positive football.
As the game progressed, the Urban Warriors cranked up the pressure as Boitumelo Radiopane added his name to the scoreboard with 15 minutes to go. In seeing out the game, Spurs secured a hard-earned three points at the Athlone Stadium.
The win saw Cape Town Spurs record their 8th straight league win at home..
