‘Making Athlone our slaughterhouse’

Coach Shaun Bartlett is hoping to bank on home ground advantage in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign as the Urban Warriors prepare to take on Sekhukhune United at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday.

In the 22/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship, Spurs boasted one of the best home records in the league en-route to winning the play-offs.

With Babina Noko travelling to Athlone this week, Bartlett is hoping his side can continue where they left off last season, along with the adoring Warriors’ fans in attendance.

“We hope to continue where we left off last season in making Athlone a fortress, a slaughterhouse for any team that’s going to come there,” Bartlett said.

“For us, we got to make sure we come with the energy, with the intention and the right attitude to win the game with the support of our fans that’s been there for us

“That will be a good start for us to kick-start our season at home and hopefully get the three points on the board with the work rate that will be put in by everybody involved.”
