Urban Warriors face defeat in Cape Town Derby

The Urban Warriors faced a defeat in their final DStv Premiership fixture at the hands of neighbours Cape Town City. Cape Town City won 2-0 against Spurs at the DHL Stadium in the Cape derby.

CTC took charge of the game very early on and created a number of chances, particularly a shot from Darwin Gonzalez that went over the bar and was not converted just before the 30 minute mark.

Eventually the opponents found their stride and scored their first goal courtesy of Katlego Mokhuoane. Mokhuoane took a free kick in the 35th minute and successfully got the ball into the back of the net.

Spurs found themselves behind at the half time mark, but did have their fair share of chances that they unfortunately were not able to build on. The second half went underway as City continued their pursuit of the victory with Jaedin Rhodes coming close to doubling the lead at the 52nd minute mark.

Cape Town City managed to keep a close protection of their lead and Spurs did not manage to score. Jaedin Rhodes would eventually get his goal just before the start of stoppage time in the 89th minute, leaving City with a win against their neighbours in the Cape derby.

The loss for Spurs leaves the team at the bottom of the league standings, registering their 14th loss of the season in the DStv Premiership.
