Urban Warriors get stellar result against Galaxy
Cape Town Spurs picked up another win in the DStv Premiership on Sunday afternoon, impressively defeating TS Galaxy 2-0. The win sees the Urban Warriors’ points tally increase to 10 on the log.
The team showed an awesome fighting spirit during the fixture. Besides scoring two goals in the first half, the players held on and defended well, earning themselves a clean sheet in the process. Liam Bern was awarded Man of the Match.
The first goal was scored by Ashley Cupido, 12 minutes into play and the second was netted by Katlego Maphathe, which was his first goal for the club since joining.
Cupido’s impressive goal scoring form continued, and there was a clear sense of solidarity, including a never say die attitude from the players who threw everything they had into walking away with the three points.
Head coach Ernst Middendorp’s post-match interview with SuperSport showed that he was proud of the players for getting a positive result again in the league.
“We were supportive, in the right moment, we were covering each other and huge compliments to each and everybody,” said Middendorp.
The Urban Warriors are now three points within reach of Richards Bay, but when asked if staying in the top-flight is still attainable, Middendorp echoed that it is still too early to say and the focus is to continue getting the right results until May.
