Ernst Middendorp shares thoughts on Urban Warriors’ previous match

Cape Town Spurs suffered a last minute 1-0 defeat to Moroka Swallows at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon and head coach Ernst Middendorp has shared his thoughts about what transpired during the fixture.

The coach felt that the team could not produce many crosses in the game and although the second half was a better performance, it was difficult to unlock their full potential.

“We were not stopping the opponents with tactical fouls, we just let them go and it was just not as experienced as we have seen it on the other side,” said Middendorp.

The coach feels that everything will be decided in May about the team’s future but has expressed that they have fulfilled their aims by collecting eight points out of 12 so far.

“We could’ve used a bit of a bonus here [against Swallows], but for us it’s crucial to be as quick as possible and try to find our way forward.”

Turning his focus onto Cape Town Spurs’ next league match against Chippa United on Wednesday evening, Middendorp says he is hoping for a more “clean” result.

Although still at the bottom of the league standings, Spurs are still within reach of getting out of last place should they pick up more points in the remaining fixtures of the DStv Premiership.
